Sarah Sitkin is one of my favorite visual artists and am privileged enough to call her a friend. You may have seen her work for John Frusciante, Venetian Snares, Otto von Schirach, Captain Ahab and most recently SONOIO. Despite the playfulness and vivid colors, I always saw a darker side to her work and wanted to exploit it. I sent her the album, it’s lyrics and minimal direction – she went to work and produced some of the most breathtaking work I’ve seen.
I suppose this is the official announcement of a new album to be released in September under an undisclosed label. It’s title is To No Avail and is planned for digital and vinyl release.
Snippet: Technically, this grinding industrial project from audio terrorist Surachai Sutthisasanakul is only sort of a solo album. The dude enlisted five well-known noise mongers (including an ex-member of NIN and Merzbow/Skinny Puppy collaborators) to sizzle his downtuned Meshuggah chugging in all manner of digital signal processing and modular synth fuckery……

The new Surachai logo is done but I can’t decide on which color. So, I’m letting you vote on which color scheme on facebook. The color with the most “Likes” will get printed to shirts and stickers in a couple weeks.
Got a nice little mention on OMG Vinyl, a blog I follow because I’ve relapsed back into my vinyl addiction.
Not sure how I let this one sit here so long, it’s an total punisher of an album. Surachai’s “Plague Diagram†is a fluid combination of just about every sub-genre of metal, industrial percussion, and blazing synths. This strange brew results in a sound that’s entirely original. Give it a listen below, it’s a winding road. Tech galore. The LP (limited to 500 coipess) comes on 180 gram clear vinyl for $15 at PlagueDiagram.com.
Excerpt from Blood Sex Cult interview: I have a deep relationship with Black Metal. I don’t do corpsepaint, go to every Black Metal show or wear their shirts. I just listen to it everyday. It’s been deeply embedded into my listening before I knew it was called Black Metal. I just thought it was melodic and beautiful. Only later did I realize it was attached to a bunch of lonely Scandinavians dressing up with facepaint and spikes trashing Christianity and praising the Satan – which is perfect!
J. Randall of Agoraphobic Nosebleed has a netlabel called Grindcore Karaoke. Plague Diagram is now a part of his growing collection of albums he supports. The version on Grindcore Karaoke comes with a brand new digital booklet that has the lyrics and liner notes easily accessible Check out all of the killer bands on the roster.
The production value on this is top shelf business in every way. The online presentation all the way down to the package containing the vinyl, shirt, and stickers arriving at your doorstep is professional and stylish, the actual material is produced equally as well, if not better. Everything in its right place, really.
First two weeks of sales have been doing well. I’m unloading to European distribution and will keep some for shows and the website. Vinyl and shirts are still available from me, visit PlagueDiagram.com
A few local stores are carrying Plague Diagram – If you’re in Chicago its the best and cheapest way to grab the beautiful 180 gram and clear vinyl. Some more stores have expressed interest in carrying a few copies and they’ll be announced when they’re carrying it.
First off, let me just say the Buchla patch I have going isn’t the best. I had a pretty intense Euro patch going and Xart came over to talk about the next synth event and dropped off his Buchla. I tried integrating it with the present patch and well, this is the result. You can’t get your 3 minutes of life back.
